The Wire EDM Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the EDM and Quality Control departments within a precision manufacturing environment. This role combines technical proficiency with team leadership to ensure high-quality production, efficient workflow, and strong collaboration across a team of machinists and toolmakers.
What are the responsibilities?
As a Wire EDM Department Manager, you will:
- Oversee daily operations of the Wire EDM and Quality Control departments
- Program, set up, and operate a variety of EDM machines, including Charmilles, Makino, and Fanuc
- Perform and supervise detailed part inspections using micrometers, comparators, CMMs, and vision systems
- Support machinists and toolmakers to ensure projects are completed on time and to spec
- Maintain equipment and coordinate special projects as needed
- Foster a productive and respectful team environment while upholding safety and communication standards
What are the requirements?
- 3+ years of experience in EDM or CNC machining
- Prior leadership or management experience strongly preferred
- Strong familiarity with metal stamping dies and general metalworking
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Skilled in precision measurement and inspection techniques
- Flexible schedule availability, including occasional overtime or weekends
