What is the position?
The Warehouse & Transportation Operations Supervisor is a hands-on leadership role responsible for keeping warehouse, loading, and delivery operations running safely and efficiently. This position coordinates employees, drivers, equipment, and daily priorities to protect product quality and ensure routes depart accurately and on time. Because the operation starts early, candidates must be comfortable working an early-morning schedule.
What are the responsibilities?
As a Warehouse & Transportation Operations Supervisor, you will:
- Lead daily warehouse staging, truck loading, and driver dispatch activities.
- Coordinate dock traffic, inbound freight, and outbound routes to support efficient, on-time departures.
- Maintain refrigerated product standards by monitoring temperatures and resolving cold-chain concerns before shipments leave.
- Review completed loads for accuracy, product condition, handling requirements, and route-specific needs.
- Prepare drivers for the day by communicating customer requests, substitutions, shortages, route updates, and other important details.
- Reinforce safe work practices, vehicle readiness, and completion of required pre-trip inspections.
- Troubleshoot equipment, vehicle, loading, and scheduling challenges that could disrupt deliveries.
- Provide visible, hands-on leadership, coaching, and direction to warehouse employees and drivers.
What are the requirements?
- Previous experience in warehouse, distribution, transportation, logistics, delivery, or a related operation.
- Prior supervisory, team lead, or other leadership experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with loading, dispatch, dock coordination, route delivery, and product-handling procedures.
- Experience working with refrigerated or temperature-sensitive products is strongly preferred.
- Background in food, grocery, produce, beverage, foodservice, cold storage, or another high-volume distribution setting is a plus.
- Strong communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to work directly alongside operational teams in a fast-moving environment rather than managing solely from a desk.
- Availability to work an early-morning schedule is required.
