What is the position?
The Senior Power Engineer serves as a licensed professional authority leading large-scale, high-impact electrical and power engineering initiatives. The position drives technical excellence, supports enterprise-wide reliability efforts, and plays a key role in shaping standards, strategy, and innovation across complex projects. You’ll balance hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight to ensure safety, compliance, and strong business outcomes.

What are the responsibilities?
As a Senior Power Engineer, you will:
  • Lead complex, high-visibility electrical engineering projects and guide cross-functional teams
  • Provide enterprise-wide expertise in power system design, maintenance strategy, and reliability best practices
  • Establish and refine engineering standards, specifications, and technical guidelines
  • Perform advanced power system studies including short-circuit, arc flash, coordination, load flow, harmonics, and related analyses
  • Oversee engineering package reviews to confirm compliance with regulatory codes and internal standards
  • Conduct root cause investigations and implement reliability improvements and optimized preventive maintenance programs
  • Represent the organization as a licensed professional engineer in technical discussions and formal presentations
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA, DOT, and internal safety policies while championing safe work practices
  • Advise leadership on technical strategy, risk management, and return on investment

What are the requirements?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or Engineering Technology with a Professional Engineer license)
  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification
  • 20+ years of engineering experience within the natural gas or petrochemical industry
  • Deep expertise in electrical systems design, diagnostics, and reliability analysis
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, regulatory codes, and safety requirements
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage complex technical initiatives
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
